Jamal was just being protective, the type to stick up for the outcasts in school. And D'Vo was just trying to graduate, but couldn't ignore the things he saw any longer. Together they grow bolder, stronger, and tap into a power they once were afraid to believe.
The story of D'Vo reminds me of being a black sheep in my family and discovering that I'm not meant to be invisible.
